SOLUTION: Kundrakudi Ponnambala Adigal addressing a meeting at Gandhi Museum in Madurai on Wednesday. — MADURAI: Only Gandhism could save this world from the evils ruining the society and, by following Gandhi’s ideals at a deeper level the inequality in an era of globalisation could be set right, said Ponnambala Adigal of Kundrakudi Mutt on Wednesday. Addressing a gathering of Gandhians who are on a vehicle yatra at the Gandhi Museum here, he opined, “Once Government ran educational institutions and liquor shops were owned by private establishments. But now liquor shops are run by Government and educational institutions are in private hands.” Remembering the services of V. O. Chidambaram, K. Kamaraj and Lal Bahadur Shastri, he expressed that Independence Day should be celebrated with much vigour and its history made easily available to common man. Gandhians belonging to a confederation of various Gandhian movements, led by former Gandhigram Rural University Vice-Chancellor N. Markandan are on a vehicle rally from Kanyakumari to Chennai stressing total prohibition, provision of more authority and financial aid to gram sabhas and town panchayats, free education from primary level to university level and promotion of swadeshi industries. The vehicle yatra reached Madurai where a meeting was conducted to highlight improvisation of rural economy.
