PATHANAMTHITTA: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Thursday said that it was unfortunate to hear from West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee that “he does not support bandhs.” Mr. Singh was talking to reporters at Allumkal near Chittar during his visit to a 7-MW mini-hydroelectric project owned by the Energy Development Company Limited (EDCL). “Immature”Mr. Singh said the Chief Minister’s “immature” remark might have been due to pressure from certain corporate giants. Asked about the controversial “cash-for-vote CD” released by CNN-IBN, Mr. Singh said he did not think that the CD was a forged one. But it did not provide an iota of proof about his involvement in the incident. Mr. Singh, who is also the director of EDCL, said the power project was fast getting ready for commissioning. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
