Sri Lankan fishermen sentenced

RAMANATHAPURAM: Twenty-eight Sri Lankan fishermen were sentenced to 12-week imprisonment for foraying into Indian waters by the Chief Judicial Magistrate here on Thursday.

They were secured by the Coast Guard between Tuticorin and Kanyakumari on June 21 and hail from Neer Colombo area. The CJM also imposed a fine of Rs.2000 each on six persons, who were drivers of the seized boats. — Special Correspondent
