Coimbatore: Host VLB Janakiammal College of Engineering and Technology fashioned a comfortable eight-wicket win over Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (Sathyamangalam) and emerged the champion of the Anna University Zone-7 inter-Collegiate cricket tournament at the VLB grounds, here on Friday. After bundling out its opponent for a paltry 103, VLB, thanks to Rathish (46) and Senthil Kumar (34 not out), scored the required runs without much ado. Earlier, Dr. Mahalingam (Pollachi) defeated Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (Vattamalaipalayam) by 72 runs to finish third. The scores: Final: Bannari Amman IT (Sathy) 103 in 29.2 overs lost to VLB Janakiammal 104 for two in 18.5 overs (Rathish 46, Senthil Kumar 34 n.o.). Third place: Dr. Mahalingam (Pollachi) 176 for eight in 25 overs (Sridhar 69) bt Sri Ramakrishna (Vattamalaipalayam) 104 for nine in 25 overs.
