Uproarious scenes mark ZP meet

Correspondent

MAHABUBNAGAR: Uproarious scenes were witnessed at the Zilla Parishad General body meeting that met here on Saturday over issue of shortage of fertilizers in the district. Initiating debate on the issue, Telugu Desam party ZPTC member of Koilkonda Vidyasagar said that though the district administration claimed there was no shortage of fertilizers in the district, several farmers including female farmers were making a beeline in front of single window offices for it.

Bhootpoor ZPTC member Venkateshwar Reddy said that while there were over seven thousand-odd acres of cultivable land, only 527 metric tonnes of fertilizers were supplied against the required quota of 931 metric tones.

He alleged that fertilizer wagons that were meant for Mahabubnagar district were diverted to Kadapa district like diversion of Krishna water to Kadapa through the Pothireddypadu regulator.
