Kakinada: Apollo Hospital here has taken rapid strides in performing non-cardiac angioplasty procedures which are a done to repair damaged blood vessels. Renal angioplasty was done recently on eight patients who had blockages in the arteries that carry blood to and from kidneys. The `renal artery blockages’ caused very high blood pressure and could have rendered the kidneys completely dysfunctional. Similarly, ‘peripheral angioplasty’ was performed on a patient who had blockages in the leg blood channels. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
