BANGALORE: A 14-year-old boy was run over by a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus in Weavers’ Colony off Bannerghatta Road on Saturday morning. According to the police, Raghavendra, an 8th Standard student of Ragigudda Sri Parasanna Anjaneya School, slipped and fell, coming under the wheels of the crowded bus. Incensed residents of the colony chased the bus driver and assaulted him and vandalised the bus that was going from Billavanahalli to K.R. Market. The Bannerghatta police rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters who demanded better transport facilities and access to the area. The bus driver was admitted to the Victoria Hospital. The body was taken to Tiptur for the last rites. SuicideA 62-year-old man and her sister were found to have committed suicide by hanging themselves in their house in J.P. Nagar 2nd Stage. Neighbours informed the police after a foul smell emanated from the house. The police said Umesh (62), who runs a grocery shop, had written a suicide note saying he and his sister Gayatri (57) were being harassed over a loan. A 54-year-old man, who was under treatment for depression, committed suicide in the Bangalore Central Prison Hospital on Saturday. According to the Chief Superintendent of the Prison M.C. Vishwanathaiah, Muniraju, a murder accused, came to the prison in April. He was admitted in the hospital a week ago. On Saturday, when the prison staff were distributing breakfast, Muniraju hanged himself from a jackfruit tree on the hospital premises.
