VISAKHAPATNAM: The District Administration has requested the State Government to appoint a senior official to oversee the relief and rehabilitation (RR) work in the district, Collector Sanjay Kumar said here on Monday. “This request has been made to the Government since a large area of land in the district has been acquired for establishing industries and other facilities and the RR work would be more effective and prompt if a senior official is put in charge of it”, Mr. Sanjay Kumar explained to reporters. A senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju is entrusted with the work at the State-level and it would be beneficial to the displaced persons if a senior official is posted at Visakhapatnam to do the job at district level. The Collector also said that the industries being set up are being asked to provide certain percentage of employment in the class III and IV categories to the locals and train them to secure employment in class I and II categories. Mr. Sanjay Kumar said the District Administration has a list of jobs provided by the industries who have been allotted land. Titanium projectThe titanium project being proposed in Nakkapalli mandal needs 2000 acres and the District Administration has identified 838 acres of land at D.L. Puram, Venpadu and Chendena villages and the same has been informed to the APIIDC, Joint Collector M. Veerabrahmaiah said. District Revenue Officer K.
