NEW DELHI: Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora on Monday announced a “relief package” for Bihar, which included an enhanced quota of kerosene and an increased supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Following a request for petroleum products by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr. Deora directed the CEOs of oil marketing companies (OMCs) to extend all possible help to the flood-affected people and the State government in the hour of crisis. The Minister also sanctioned an additional 10,000 tonnes of superior kerosene for the flood-affected areas as requested by the Chief Minister. The State’s demand for LPG would be met at any cost, whatever the quantity. Free LPG would be provided in relief camps set up by the government and NGOs. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
