VIJAYAWADA: Vizag and Nellore were declared joint winners in the Andhra senior hockey inter-district tournament which concluded at Gudur on Monday, according to information reaching here. The teams were goalless at the end of regulation time and no play was possible during extra-time due to bad light. Earlier, in the second semifinal, Nellore defeated East Godavari 5-3 in the tie-breaker. Kesava, Shabbir shineKesava Reddy (60) and Shabbir (58) helped Kurnool score 169 for seven in 90 overs against Nellore in the ACA South Zone under-14 inter-district tournament, for the Fr. Vincent Ferrer Trophy, at Anantapur. No play was possible owing to rain in the match between Kadapa and Anantapur at PTC grounds. The scores: Kurnool 169 for seven in 90 overs (Kesava Reddy 60, Shabbir 58, Manoj four for 38) vs. Nellore.
