Frings out with broken nose

FRANKFURT: Werder Bremen midfielder Torsten Frings will miss Germany’s two opening World Cup qualifying football matches against Liechtenstein and Finland with a broken nose. Frings sustained the injury while playing basketball at a public relations event with his club, the German football federation said on Monday. — AP
