Bata shoe mogul dead

Toronto: Thomas Bata, Czech-born head of the worldwide family shoe empire that bears his name, died here at the age of 93. Mr. Bata exiled himself in Canada in 1938 when the rise of Nazism forced him to flee his homeland.
