‘A man of great integrity’

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the residence of H. Y. Sharada Prasad – media adviser to Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi – on Wednesday to offer condolences to his wife Kamalamma Prasad.

In his message, the Prime Minister described Sharada Prasad as a man of great erudition, civility and integrity, who embodied in is multi-faceted personality the highest ideals of public service. “His scholarship and thinking shaped the views and public discourse of three Prime Ministers who he served with great distinction as media adviser.” With the death of Sharada Prasad, the country has lost a role model and an exceptional human being who left a deep impact on public life and in the world of letters.

Sharada Prasad died after a prolonged illness on Tuesday.
