Woman held at Attari with fake currency

New Delhi: A woman from Uttar Pradesh was taken into custody by customs officials at the Attari Railway Station after she was found to be carrying fake currency notes totalling to Rs. 10 lakh stuffed in the soles of footwear. The modus operandi was uncovered following an intelligence input about the arrival of an Indian, later identified as Pakeeza, from Pakistan, at the station by the Samjhauta Express with a large consignment on Thursday. “When we checked her baggage, we found a number of footwear with unusually thick soles. On closer inspection, we found that the soles were filled with fake Rs. 500 currency notes totalling to Rs.10 lakh,” an official claimed. — PTI
