Paritala case: SC rejects plea

J. Venkatesan

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to entertain a writ petition from the father-in-law of Paritala Ravi, slain TDP legislator, seeking a direction for transfer of the key accused in the case M. Suryanarayana Reddy to a jail outside Andhra Pradesh.

A Bench comprising Justice B.N. Agrawal and Justice G. Singhvi, while disposing of the petition filed by Dharmavarapu Kodaiah alias Kondanna, asked him to approach the High Court for appropriate relief. The Bench said “we can’t entertain such petitions. You have a remedy, go to High Court.” Reddy is the prime accused in the killing of Paritala Ravindra in which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s son Jaganmohan Reddy is also cited as an accused.
