MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Science Forum (TNSF) invites applications from students to participate in International Science Olympiads. Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and Indian Association of Chemistry Teachers (IACT) conduct the examinations at the national level. The event comprises a National Standard Examination in physics, chemistry and biology at the higher secondary (CBSC) level to be held on November 23 in Madurai. A student can appear for all papers or any one of the papers, which will be valued at all-India level. The national toppers will be given training at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai, and will participate in International Science Olympiads held in different countries. Top 250 successful candidates in each subject will be given certificates of merit and will qualify for the Indian National Olympiad. The top five students in physics and top four each from chemistry and biology will be eligible to attend the International Science Olympiads, in addition to a scholarship of Rs. 5,000 per annum, if they pursue B.Sc., Physics. In astronomyThe IAPT is also organising a National Standard Examination in astronomy this year. Students born between January 1, 1994, and December 31, 1995, can participate in the junior category and those born between January 1, 1992, and December 1, 1993, in the senior category. Interested students have to register their names for the subjects appearing before September 10.
