More rain in coastal region

NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department has forecast a fresh bout of rainfall over coastal Karnataka beginning September 8. The good news for coastal Karnataka follows indications that a low pressure area was likely to form over west-central Bay of Bengal around September 8, leading to a revival of the monsoon over Peninsula and Central India from September 7.

The figures for Kerala and coastal Karnataka were dismal, with a departure of minus 27 per cent and minus 20 per cent from their respective long period averages. — Special Correspondent
