Prakasam lifts trophy

VIJAYAWADA: Prakasam District lifted the Nagalla Lingaiah Memorial Trophy for ACA Central Zone u-14 inter-district cricket tournament by garnering 13 points here on Saturday.

Prakasam scored an emphatic nine-wicket over West Godavari, while the tie between Guntur-Krishna ended in draw.

Guntur’s P. Srikrishna hogged the limelight with his all-round performance (53 n.o. and six for 18). A three-day selection match will be held on Monday.

The scores:

West Godavari 52 and 164 in 71.2 overs (V. Gangadhar 63, Ch. Surendra three for 39, K. Akhil Babu three for five, Ch. Kranthi Kumar two for 37, K. Kalyan two for 39) lost to Prakasam 199 and 18 for 1 in 5.5 overs.

Guntur 185 and 96 for one in 23.2 overs (P. Sri Krishna 53 n.o, M. Surendra 39) drew with Krishna 165 in 68.1 overs (N. Vagmi Choudary 38, P. Sri Krishna six for 18, P. Manohar two for two).

Chittoor scored an innings and 32 runs victory over Anantapur in the ACA South Zone u-14 inter-district tournament for Fr. Vincent Ferrer Trophy, according to information reaching here on Saturday.

No play was possible between Kadapa and Nellore owing to rain.

The tournament will resume on Tuesday, after two days of rest.

Anantapur 53 and 113 in 43.4 overs (Thahir 34, Vinil 27, G. Rahul four for 26, Gnaneswar four for 34) lost to vs. Chittoor 198.

The fourth DRM Cup cricket tournament, conducted by South Central Railway Vijayawada Division, will be held at railway stadium at Satyanarayanapuram from September 16 to 21, according to Welfare Officer (sports) N. Arjuna Rao here on Saturday. — Sports Reporter
