Mediocre fare

Film: Ankit, Pallavi & Friends

Cast: Nikhil, Megha Burman

Direction: Hari Yelleti

In Happy Days, every romantic break up was a catastrophe, every makeup a triumph, every minute lost became a tragedy because the film looked at the world through the lens of raw adolescent emotions. Ankit, Pallavi & Friends appears to be a sequel of Happy Days. It is about a group of friends who pass out of college and are pursuing their dreams.

Their relationship is explored as the film deepens, develops and burrows into their lives.

Nikhil from Happy Days plays the hero Ankit, who composes music and hopes to cut an album some day. He falls in love with Pallavi (Megha Burman) who has her priorities clearly chalked out in life. The first hour of the film is a drag with the film introducing the characters. One is kept waiting to know what the film is all about. It is only after the interval that you understand that the story is about a clash of opinions and how the lead pair splits and then unites towards the end.

There are lots of movies that are fun even if they aren’t fantastic films. But this movie disappoints. A couple of numbers are melodious. Technically there isn’t much to talk about.
