CHENNAI: The general council and the executive committee of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) will discuss the issue of sharing in power in Tamil Nadu, party president K.V. Thankgabalu said on Sunday. Talking to reporters at Sathyamurthy Bhavan, Mr. Thankgabalu said the party high command would be informed of the opinion evolved in the general council meeting, to be convened soon, for a final decision. “As far as the Congress is concerned, policy decisions are taken at the highest level. But there is no denying the fact the Congressmen are keen on forming a government in Tamil Nadu. We will endeavour to capture power,” he said when asked how long the Congress was going to wait to share power in the State. “Sonia aware of issues”To a question whether AICC president Sonia Gandhi was aware of the aspirations of the Congressmen in Tamil Nadu, he said she was aware of each and every issue. Recalling the Congress’ decision to support the DMK government, Mr. Thankgabalu said in the next nine months the party would bring together all the alliance parties to ensure the Congress won the next Lok Sabha polls. As for Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Dr. Ramadoss’ announcement that his party would take a decision on alliance only at the time of elections, he said “it was the stand of the party and we will respect it.” © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
