Police told not to harass Nalini, Chetan

HYDERABAD: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) Chairperson Justice B. Subhashan Reddy has directed the police not to harass, arrest and detain Nalini and her husband Chetan, son of poet Katti Padma Rao, beyond the permissible limits of the enquiry time. In an order issued on Saturday, he asked the police not to harass any witnesses, including Ms. Nalini.

A press release issued by SHRC here said the couple met Justice Reddy on Saturday night at his residence and informed that they had watched a TV scroll stating the commission had taken cognizance of the complaint filed by Ms. Nalini’s parents alleging her kidnap and forcible marriage to Mr. Chetan.

They denied allegations against Mr. Padma Rao, Prajarajyam leader Chiranjeevi, Mr. Chetan and others and maintained that the couple had fallen in love and got married as per Buddhist rites. Ms. Nalini apprehended arrest by police and sought protection.
