CHENNAI: Puducherry Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam called on his Tamil Nadu counterpart M. Karunanidhi at his residence here on Sunday. He was accompanied by representatives of the Pradesh Congress Committee. It was described as a courtesy call. Earlier, TNCC president K.V. Thankgabalu welcomed Mr. Vaithilingam, who visited Sathyamurthy Bhavan along with some of his Cabinet colleagues. Mr. Vaithilingam said there was no need to create so many welfare boards in Puducherry on the lines of Tamil Nadu. “A few departments can be effectively managed under one board as Puducherry is a small state.” Asked about the power situation, he said it was the same as it was in Tamil Nadu. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
