Free medical camp on Sept. 13 and 14

VISAKHAPATNAM: A free medical camp for patients with ear problems will be conducted by Sagar Durga ENT Care in the city on Sept 13 and 14.

According to the head of the unit M.V.S.S. Bapa Rao, free ENT examination, endoscopy of ear, hearing test with pure tone audiometry, X-ray of mastoids if required will be done free of cost at the camp for the patients. Hearing aids for the needy patients would also be given at concessional rates.

And, for the patients requiring surgery, microscopic ear surgeries would be done at very nominal charges, he said. “We successfully conducted a free medical camp for sinusitis patients during the month of March . Spurred by it, we are now planning to conduct free camp for those with ear problems like recurring ear discharge, hearing loss, ear blocking sensation, etc. We are continuously trying our best to bring the latest technology in ENT accessible to all sections of the society. The latest equipment we have in our hospital is not available in other corporate hospitals in the region,” he said.

Dr. Bapa Rao said the unique facilities available include diode laser in ENT, Xomed microbrider for treatment of sinusitis and nasal polyps, sleep laboratory for people with severe snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, and allergy clinic or allergic rhinitis patients.

The advantages of diode laser was that it helps in securing good haemostasis and therefore was a bloodless surgery with post-operative pain very less. Chief of Sagar Durga Nursing Home which houses the unit, Visweswara Rao said he was advising the second generation of doctors to maintain the values of the noble profession and make available the services to the less privileged.
