VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna district unit of the Indian Red Cross Society provided assistance to flood victims in New Rajarajeswaripeta on Sunday. The society members distributed clothes, bedsheets, buckets and foot mats to 450 families in the area. Police Commissioner K. V. Rajendranath Reddy, who participated as chief guest, said most of the people showed no interest in taking shelter at the relief camps though the police and civic officials had alerted them in advance. Red Cross Society advisor G. Samaram urged the people to send their children to schools, and avail themselves of the benefits of welfare schemes being implemented by the government. Local corporator Y. Ramana Rao, Red Cross Society Krishna district secretary A.
