Federation’s decision draws flak

BANGALORE: The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) has criticised the threat of the Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Associations to stop trucks with construction material from entering Bangalore from Attibele, from Monday.

The federation has called for stopping trucks with material such as crushed stone, size stone and so on to Bangalore on the ground that the Tamil Nadu Government had banned transportation of river sand to Karnataka.

Federation president G.R. Shanmugappa told The Hindu that construction material, including river sand, were being transported to Karnataka from Tamil Nadu for many years.

“If the Tamil Nadu Government does not want sand to be transported to Karnataka, we do not want transportation of other construction material too to the State,” he said explaining the reason behind the decision.
