BANGALORE: A report has been sent to Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari about the act of police inspector Bhaskar Vokkaliga who reportedly went missing on the day when he was supposed to give charge to another inspector. On Thursday, Bhaskar Vokkaliga, the police inspector at J.P. Nagar police station, was posted to Basavanagudi. He was replaced by S.K. Umesh, who was transferred from Kalasipalyam police station. On Friday, Mr. Vokkaliga went out in his jeep in the morning without handing over charge to his colleague. He did not keep his senior officers informed. He took away with him the station house diary. Mr. Vokkaliga’s mobile phone was switched off and the wireless set he was carrying remained inaccessible. Mr. Umesh, who came to the police station, failed in his efforts to call Mr. Vokkaliga throughout the day. There was no response to the messages sent to Mr. Vokkaliga. Mr. Umesh brought this to the notice of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) S. Ravi, who, in turn, informed Mr. Bidari. It was on Saturday morning that Mr. Vokkaliga came to the police station. He told his senior officers that he had gone for investigation. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
