Government selects teachers for its awards

They hail from Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government has selected teachers from Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe for the Teachers’ Awards-2008, including the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Awards and the Chief Minister’s Special Awards.

Dr. S.Radhakrishnan Awards

According to a release, the following teachers will receive the Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Awards: D. Ramalingam of Government Middle School, Ariyankuppam; M. Dhanusu of Government Primary School, Sedarapet; and D. Gunasekaran of Government Higher Secondary School, Koravelimedu; and A. Ally of Jawaharlal Nehru Government Higher Secondary School, Karaikal.

Chief Minister’s Special Awards

The Chief Minister’s Special Awards will be presented to V. Jayabalan of Government High School, Thengaithittu, for language; and S. Parvady of Government Primary School, Muthialpet, M. Mangayarkarasi of Bharathi Government Higher Secondary School, Bahour, S. Selvanayagi of Kamban Government Higher Secondary School, Nettapakkam, and P. Margaret Ammal of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Karaikal, in the women teachers category.

In the technical teachers’ category, the award will be presented to R. Muthukumar of Thiruvalluvar Government Higher Secondary School, Ambagarathur, Karaikal.

Education Minister’s Regional Awards

In the Puducherry region, the Education Minister’s Regional Awards will be given to R. Baskaran of Government Middle School, Pannithittu; R. Pandurangan of Government Middle School, Pandasozhanallur; M. Najirudeen of Government High School, Kuruvinatham; S. Jeyaraman of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kadirkamam; S. Thirumugam of Ilango Adigal Government Higher Seconday School, Muthirapalayam; and S. Kulasegeran of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Government Boys High School, Muthialpet.

In Karaikal, M. Syed Ahamed of Government Primary School, Keezhaiyur; and S. Veeraselvam of Government Primary School, Periyapet, will receive the awards.

E. J. Lily Kutty of Government Higher Secondary School, Mahe, and P. Venkateswara Rao of S.K.S.P.V.N. Government High School, Kanakalapet, Yanam, has been selected for the regional awards.
