NEW DELHI: Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday flagged off a truck full of relief material from the party office here for Bihar’s flood victims. Dr. Vardhan said three such truckloads of relief material had been flagged off for Patna from the BJP Central Office on Monday. Besides, three more trucks were being loaded with material and would be sent from Azadpur Subzi Mandi on Wednesday, he added. The BJP leader said since Bihar was facing an unprecedented flood situation his party was doing everything possible to ameliorate the suffering of the people there. The relief material primarily comprises rice, flour, sattu, jaggery, biscuits, snacks, bed-sheets, durries, saris, tents, tarpaulin and medicines. Asserting that BJP was with the people of Bihar in fighting this calamity of epic proportions, Dr. Vardhan said it would take at least one year to fully rehabilitate all the people affected by the floods and bring their lives back on the track again. He appealed to the people of Delhi to donate generously for the flood victims and said drafts or cheques should be drawn in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party Apda Rahat Kosh while relief material could be donated at the party’s 14 Pandit Pant Marg office. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
