KOLKATA: The condition of veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu is stable, doctors attending on him said here on Tuesday. Mr. Basu was admitted to a city hospital on Sunday after he suffered a fall in his Salt Lake residence last week. There was a blood clot in his brain and a CT scan on Monday evening showed no appreciable change, according to a medical bulletin issued by the hospital authorities. The 10-member medical board said the clot had to be removed only after taking into consideration various other factors. They include Mr. Basu’s cardiac and neurological status. The doctors were reviewing the clinical parameters and the investigation reports. The board will again meet on Wednesday morning to assess his condition. Mr. Basu is on normal diet. Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee called on Mr. Basu and inquired about his health. They also had a brief conversation regarding the Singur issue, said a hospital insider. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
