Revenue tower in Kochi soon

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Housing Benoy Viswom announced here on Wednesday that the government would hand over the houses built under the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project at Beemapally to beneficiaries next month.

Inaugurating the Onam celebrations by employees of the Kerala State Housing Board, he said the construction of 32 houses at Beemapally had been taken up under the project. “We hope to complete the work and hand over the keys by October.” He said such projects were important to restore the credibility of the Housing Board.

The Minister said efforts were on to restructure the loan repayment to HUDCO. This, he added, would help to resolve one of the main problems faced by the Housing Board.

Mr. Viswom said the formalities for the construction of an apartment complex at the Pandit’s Colony in Thiruvananthapuram were in progress.

Housing scheme

“The Board has finalised plans for a housing scheme targeting NRIs at Panampally Nagar, Ernakulam”.

The Minister also said steps had been taken to commission the Revenue Tower at Kochi. He solicited the support of the public for the one lakh housing reconstruction scheme.

Housing Board Chairman M. Rahmathulla presided over the function. Housing Commissioner and Secretary Noel Thomas and Chief Engineer D. Ajayan also spoke.
