Two held on charges of auto-theft

NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old man and his accomplice have been arrested for their alleged involvement in over a 1,000 cases of auto-theft in the past 32 years.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Lal Masjid over the weekend and arrested Nabi Hussain. About 6 gm of contraband was also allegedly seized. Abid, a scrap dealer, was later arrested at his instance for allegedly receiving accessories of stolen cars.

During interrogation, Nabi purportedly told the police that would mostly steal Maruti cars and abandoned them after removing their accessories.
