HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested L. Narsaiah, who was deported to the city on Tuesday allegedly after he managed to fly to Dubai using a tampered passport six days ago from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Thirty-three-year-old Narsaiah, hailing from Rudrangi village of Karimnagar district, is a farmer. He approached a travel agent in Karimnagar to find a job in Dubai. “According to him, the broker gave him a passport belonging to one Laxminarayana hailing from the same district,” the Shamshabad SI Jayaraman said. Later, the broker allegedly got the photo on the passport substituted with that of Narsaiah. On September 4, he came to the city and boarded a Dubai-bound flight at Shamshabad airport by presenting the tampered passport. “Somehow, the immigration officials failed to notice substitution of the photograph. This is being inquired into,” police higher-ups said. A team was also sent to Karimnagar to trace the agent who supplied the passport. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
