Arrested for role in snatching, burglaries

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested Khaja Wahabuddin, 35, who was allegedly involved in several chain snatching and burglary cases.

Gold ornaments weighing 160 gm and two stolen bikes were recovered from him, Cyberabad Police Commissioner S. Prabhakar Reddy told a press conference.

Wahabuddin ‘started committing offences’ at the age of 20 and was lodged in jail 11 times.

He was caught while travelling on a stolen bike and confessed to have snatched chains from 78 persons, robbed three persons and burgled six shops after coming out from jail on bail in September last year.

A resident of Malakpet, the accused used to flee to Jhansi after committing offences in and around Hyderabad with the help of his associates.

He would sell the stolen property in Jhansi and return to Hyderabad to continue the snatching and burglaries.

A hunt is on to catch his associates, Vinod Kumar Sahu, Bhadri Murali, Netha , Bablu and Jeetu.
