HYDERABAD: The concluding day’s play of the A series’ second unofficial cricket Test match between Australia and India at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium was called off here on Thursday. Shortly after a noon inspection by the umpires, there came another huge cloudburst, wiping out any possibility of play on the last of the three-day contest. Until then, Curator Y.L. Chandrasekhar and his team had been making efforts to dry the ground, battered by rain in the wee hours of Thursday. “It’s now fit only for waterpolo,” Chandrasekhar quipped, while urging prayers to save the tri-nation one day series featuring the above teams and New Zealand, set to get under way here on September 15. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
