Man dies at workplace

METTUR: A contract labourer died in an accident that occurred in a private factory in Pottaneri near here on Thursday.

Police sources said Gopi (25) was working in the factory when his head was caught in the conveyor belt accidentally.

He died on the spot. When the factory officials tried to rush his body to the hospital, the relatives of the deceased blocked the ambulance and damaged the vehicle.

It was said that they had also damaged the bus belonging to the factory before resorting to a demonstration. Revenue and police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.

A case was registered.
