NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Vayalar Ravi heads an Indian delegation on a goodwill mission to the United States which includes a two-day stop in Washington . The delegation will be in the U.S. Capital early next week at a time when Congress is taking a view on the Bush administration’s request to American lawmakers to ratify the civil nuclear cooperation with India. During the nine-day tour starting on Saturday , the delegation will also visit New York and Los Angeles. In Washington , the delegation has sought an appointment with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Besides Mr. Ravi, the delegation includes Ministers of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Suryakanta Patil, MPs, D. Vittal Rao, B.S. Gnanadesikan (Congress), Santosh Kumar Gangwar (BJP), Mohan Singh (SP), Amir Ali Jinnah Sulaiman (DMK), Braja Kishore Tripathy (BJD), Chandrakant Khaire (Shiv Sena), Ram Chandra Paswan (LJP), Sita Ram Singh(RJD), Nakul Das Rai (SDF), Vanlalzawma (MNF), Abdul Rashid Shaheen (NC), Wangpha Wangyuk Konyak (NPP), Mani Charenamai, Thupstan Chhewang and Sansuma Bwiswmuthiary (all Independents). © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
