NEW DELHI: Virender Sehwag lent his support to the seniors in the Indian team here on Friday. “Please do not write them off after just one bad series,” he said at a function held by Neo Sports to announce its coverage programme for the next three series in India. Following criticism that the seniors — Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Gganguly and V.V.S. Laxman — had not performed well during India’s last Test series in Sri Lanka, Sehwag stood by them. “Sachin, Rahul, Sourav and Laxman are all great players. They have been around for more than 10 years and have served Indian cricket with distinction. They have delivered consistently whenever the team demanded. People should not write them off after just one bad series. It will not be fair,” he said. The opener said that he was happy at being named in the ICC World Test Team of the Year. — Special Correspondent © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
