LONDON: Russian tennis player Nikolay Davydenko has been cleared by the ATP after a yearlong betting investigation. The ATP says it found no evidence of wrongdoing by Davydenko or Argentine player Martin Vassallo Arguello in their match in Poland in August 2007. The ATP says the case is now closed. The probe centred on suspicious betting patterns on the match in Sopot. Davydenko, then ranked No. 5 in the world, pulled out against his lower-ranked opponent in the third set citing a foot injury. — AP © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
