3 killed, 7 injured in accident

THANJAVUR: Three persons were killed on the spot, and seven others injured, when a lorry stacked with firewood collided with a van at Sengipatti near here on Saturday.

The van with pilgrims to Velankanni was coming from Kichipalayam near Salem when the accident took place. The deceased were identified as Kannan (20), driver of the van, Kanchana (30) and her son Thirumoorthy (9). Jayabal, Subramanian, Madhu, Keerthana, Jaganathan, Mariappan and Priya have been admitted to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. — Special Correspondent
