Indian duo clinches silver

HYDERABAD: It was a creditable show by Nikhat Banu of Hyderabad and Ankita Das of Bengal, as they combined well to clinch the cadet doubles silver for their country in the Indian Open, a part of the International Table Tennis Federation’s Junior World Circuit that concluded at the Chatrapathi Shivaji Sports Complex in Pune on Sunday.

The duo subdued Pakistan’s Sk. Abeera Ali and Erun Sana 11-6, 11-6, 11-9 in the quarterfinals and compatriots Anushree Hazra and Megha Kakaria 11-9, 9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, in the semifinals.

In the final they lost to Singapore’s Isabella Siyan Li and Pei Yee Sylvia Look 11-8, 11-4, 11-8.
