Alok Baa hammers seven goals

NEW DELHI: Alok Baa hammered seven goals as St. Ignatius High School, Gumla, (Jharkhand) defeated St. John’s High School (Chandigarh) 9-1, in the sub-junior section of the Subroto Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday. Mahender Monda and Prakash Topno scored the other goals for the winner. Ameen had put the Chandigarh team ahead in the fifth minute, before the goal spree by the Gumla boys.

In another match in the same section, Bangladesh Krira Shikha Protisthan (BKSP), Dhaka, beat Khowang Higher Secondary School (Assam) 1-0. Mohammed Rubel Hossain scored the winner in the 10th minute.

In the junior section, two goals each by Sankha Marandi and Bhada Tudu helped Town High School (Sundargarh) to a 4-0 win over NCC, North East Region.

However, another NCC team from West Bengal and Sikkim recorded a 2-0 victory over St. Joseph’s School (Goa) thanks to a brace by Biswanath Soren. — Special Correspondent
