Thumping win for Club Mahindra

Chennai: Club Mahindra defeated Satyam Computer Services by seven wickets in the Super Six round of the Premier Cup inter-corporate tournament, organised by Beyond Boundaries here.

Club Mahindra will meet ICICI Bank, while Cognizant will play Satyam Computer Services in the semifinals.

The scores: Super Six: Zone ‘A’: Verizon 161 for seven in 25 overs lost to ICICI Bank 163 for five in 24.3 overs (Srichand Nair 50); ICICI 84 in 20.1 overs (Arun Kumar four for 10) lost to Cognizant 85 for two in 15.1 overs (Leslin Ross 45 n.o.); Cognizant 186 for six in 30 overs (P. Arunkumar 66 n.o., John 45) bt Verizon 66 in 20.1 overs.

Zone ‘B’: Satyam 176 for eight in 25 overs (Gyan 41) bt Scope International 156 for nine in 25 overs (Ganesh 41); Satyam 147 for eight in 30 overs (Raja Kumar 41) lost to Club Mahindra 148 for three in 23.4 overs (V. Ganesh 56, Munuswamy 50 n.o.).

Varun’s effort in vain

Varun Kumar’s century (107) went in vain for Friends XI (Tbm) as Flakt India posted a four-wicket win in a first division match of the Canara Bank-KDCA league. Maniraj’s all-round show was the highlight of Flakt’s win.

Selvam missed a century (94) but ensured Sindhi’s College’s win by 40 runs over Vels College in the Kumararaja Muthiah memorial inter-collegiate tournament here.
