IOB wins title

Chennai: Indian Overseas Bank added yet another trophy this season when it claimed the title in the Aircel all-India volleyball tournament at Karaikal on Sunday.

In the deciding match of the five-team round-robin league championship, IOB prevailed over Indian Bank 27-25, 25-20, 25-19. Indian Bank finished second.

In the women’s final, South Central Railway beat off a strong challenge from Dr. Sivanthi Club (Chennai).

The results:

Men: Indian Overseas Bank bt Indian Bank 27-25, 25-20, 25-19; ONGC (Dehradun) bt SDAT (Chennai) 25-23, 17-25, 23-25, 25-23, 16-24.

Women: South Central Railway bt Dr. Sivanthi Club 16-25, 29-27, 21-25, 25-12, 15-10.
