Nagaraj edges out Tarun, wins title

CHENNAI: D. Nagaraj, with a score of 77 gross, won the Monthly Medal golf tournament for September held recently at Madras Gymkhana Club Golf Annexe.

He edged out Tarun Veeraraghavan (77 gross) by virtue of having a better back nine.

Tarun Veeraraghavan found consolation, however, winning the Captain’s Prize 2008 tournament.

Brace by Venkatesan

Venkatesan with a brace shone in SRM University’s 3-0 win over St. Joseph’s College of Engineering in the league phase of the CFA-S. Nagalingam Nadar memorial inter-collegiate football tournament being held here.

Ranjith Kumar added the third goal.

State shooting

The 34th State shooting championship in rifle and pistol events will be held at the Dr. B. Sivanthi Adityan Shooting Sports Complex, Pantheon Road, here from September 18 to 21 (first day only practice sessions).

The competition is open to members of all rifle clubs affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Shooting Association.

About 300 shooters from various parts of the State are expected to take part.
