COIMBATORE: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Coimbatore Kendra, along with Sahitya Akademi, will release a book on the life of M.P. Periasamy Thooran in connection with the birth centenary of the scholar. According to a release, the book, “Thondil Kanindha Thooran,” will be released by Tamil Scholar, Silamboli Chellappan, on September 20. N. Mahalingam, Chairman, Sakthi Group of Companies, will preside. H.H. Swami Atmaramananda, Secretary, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, and T.K.Shanmuganandam, Chancellor, Avinashilingam University for Women, will participate. The inauguration of the three-day centenary celebrations will be held on September 19 at 5 p.m. on Bhavan’s premises. Philanthropists, industrialists, educationists, artists, and the general public are expected to participate. Lectures, seminars and discussions will be held on September 20. Perisamy Thooran was a scholar, teacher, publisher and a connoisseur of carnatic music.
