Probe ordered into Blueline death

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday said it would order a judicial inquiry into the death of a man to find out whether he was killed in an accident involving a Blueline bus or was murdered.

A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice A.P. Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar said this after watching photographs of the deceased submitted to it by counsel for the bus owner.

Observing that there was a glaring discrepancy between what the photographs showed and what the police case was, the Bench said it would order an inquiry into it by a Sessions judge. The Court said it would pass a detailed order setting the terms of the inquiry on Friday.

Earlier, Delhi Government Standing Counsel Mukta Gupta urged the Court to order an inquiry into the matter by a Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police but the Court rejected her suggestion.

The matter has reached the High Court on an appeal by the Delhi police challenging release of the bus submitting that the bus owner had got his vehicle released from a court here without depositing the fine by submitting a forged post-mortem report which said the man was not killed in an accident but was murdered.

The police had recovered the body near the Dwarka flyover last year. They said the man was killed in an accident involving the Blueline. They had later impounded the bus owned by Rajendra Prakash Sharma.

The police alleged that the bus owner had manipulated the post-mortem report to prove that the victim was murdered. However, the doctor who had conducted the post-mortem informed the Court that there was no manipulation in his autopsy report.
