YSR asks police to be alert

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked police to be ever ready to swing into action in view of the violence in Orissa, Karnataka and Delhi.

Reviewing the law and order situation on Wednesday, the Chief Minister complimented the police for peaceful conduct of Ganesh immersions not only in Hyderabad but elsewhere in the State and said “ there should not be any complacency on your part”. “Be on toes”, he advised police, saying there would be anti-social elements and vested interests who are on the look out to create trouble. He asked the police to have a continuous dialogue with religious leaders/heads to ensure peace in society.

City Police Commissioner B. Prasada Rao thanked the Chief Minister for his support to the police and also complimented the Ganesh Utsav Samithi and Muslims who received Ganesh rallies.
