Sanitation and plantation campaign

SALEM: A massive sanitation campaign and tree plantation drive would be carried out in all parts in the district on September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Arignar Anna.

Collector N. Mathivanan, in a statement, instructed elected representatives and officials to make arrangements to make the campaign a success. Garbage removal and drainage cleaning activities would be carried out during the campaign.

Overhead water tanks would also be cleaned. Concerted efforts would be initiated to supply protected drinking water to the people.

School and college students would be roped in to carry out the plantation drive. The local bodies should try to plant tree saplings during the drive, he said.
