BANGALORE: The CCB police busted a credit card racket in the city and arrested seven men and based on information provided by them, recovered valuables worth Rs. 15 lakh from them. The accused are Mirza Ibn Ali (35) of Marathahalli, Alirazak (25) of South Cross Street near Neelasandra, Habeeb Ali (50) of Rose Garden near Neelasandra, Javed Ali (39) of Udayagiri in Mysore, Praveen P. Yadav (25) of Mysore, G. Marappa (25) and G. Murthy (26) from Kenchenahalli near Rajarajeshwari Nagar. The arrested men had made fake credit cards of Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, ICICI Bank and others and bought Rs. 5 lakh worth electronic gadgets, including laptops and mobile phones. Marappa and Murthy were the employees of Sri Srinivasa Jewellery at Nagarathpet and had stolen Rs. 10 lakh worth ornaments from their employer, the police said. The arrested had planned to rob businessmen near Ulsoor Gate and the police nabbed them on September 12. “We have seized a car, knives, gold and silver ornaments, electronic gadgets and other materials from them,” they said. RecoveredThe police arrested a man while he was peddling deerskin and seized three pelts from him. The accused is Ramachandrappa Muniyappa (45) of Jedarahalli in Chintamani taluk. He was caught on T.B. Road near Ayurvedic Hospital at Majestic. The value of the pelts is nearly Rs. 2 lakh in the international market, the police said. “He said that he had purchased the pelts from tribal people in Chinatamani. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act and we will send a team to Chintamani for investigation,” the police said. Fire at ATMAn electric short circuit caused a fire at an ATM centre of Corporation Bank on Graphite Road near Mahadevapura on Wednesday. Two fire tenders doused the blaze. Two robbedMuggers struck at two places in the city on Tuesday night and robbed cash, mobile phones and ATM cards from three persons. The Shankarapuram police said around 11.45 p.m. four armed men waylaid an employee of a transport company on Siddaiah Road and robbed him of his cellphone and Rs. 2,950 near Tulasi Medicals on Shankarapuram 5th main. In the other incident, three men on a moped waylaid two youths near RMZ Millenium on Old Madras Road around 1.15 a.m. and robbed them of Rs. 1,000, an ATM card and two mobile phones.
