NEW DELHI: The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) has been awarded the Appan Menon Memorial Award for 2008-09 for furthering the aims of its Delhi Media Centre for Research and Publications in the coming year. Into its 11th edition, the award carries a cash of Rs. 1 lakh. The award has been given to the DUJ for continuing the work of preparing publications, and conducting film shows, exhibitions and public lectures by eminent persons. The award is given annually in memory of Appan Menon, who began his career in the print media and then moved on to the electronic format. He had worked with the Press Trust of India, United News of India, Frontline, and The Hindu, and was with NDTV when he died in 1996. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
